Types of Education System in UK

There are five stages of higher education in the United Kingdom: early childhood education, primary and secondary education, further education (FE), and higher education (HE). From the age of 3 and up to the age of 16, all Britons must attend school (mandatory education), but after that, their education is up to them.

School level takes for 12 years. At age 16 the students typically take exams for the General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) or other Level 1/2 qualifications. While education is compulsory until 18, schooling is compulsory to 16. Undergraduate Education

Higher Education Modes for International Students:

Undergraduate degrees in the United Kingdom are usually completed in three years, except for Scotland, which takes four years to complete an undergraduate course. Most UK institutions offer sandwich undergraduate programs with a four-year duration. There is an additional year of work experience in the third year, which brings the course duration to four years instead of three.

Most UK master's degrees last one year, allowing you to enter the workforce sooner (than in many other countries). Moreover, there are numerous postgraduate certificate and diploma courses and taught masters’ courses (such as MA, M.Sc., LLM, and MBA) and research degrees (such as MPhil, Ph.D.).

Architect and medical degrees can take up to seven years to complete. Some of the most highly regarded medical schools are found in London. However, getting into these universities is an arduous process, as each university conducts a preliminary test before admission.

International students can earn their Master's degree through another method, such as thorough research. Graduate students who conduct in-depth research in a specific area related to their bachelor's degree can receive a master's degree.

Students from abroad who want to continue their research can be accepted to graduate schools and earn a doctorate. In two to three years, graduate students can conduct many independent research projects, and the results of those projects can be published as scientific articles either in print or online publications. An international student who wishes to earn a degree must submit a thesis following the research they conduct over a period of 2 to 3 years. Students who pass the admissions committee's review will receive a doctorate.

Undergraduate Course

Qualification

Successful completion of HSSC (Higher Secondary School Certificate) with 75% overall where a course has subject-specific requirements 75% will be required in each of these subjects.

Applicants must be aged 17 or over at the point of enrolment.

Successful completion of Year 1 of an undergraduate degree with 50% or above.

Postgraduate Course

For the postgraduate degree, the UK universities require applicants for the taught programmes who hold a degree equivalent to a UK first degree in the relevant subject area. However, many UK universities consider Pakistani students who have a good grades in the following are-

Normally for the graduate and postgraduate courses, UKVI IELTS 6.0 with no band less than 5.5 is required. Despite that, some courses may ask for a higher score. If you do not meet the English language requirement, the university authority may provide you with a conditional offer letter. However, for other degree programmes, 

IFP 3 terms: IELTS UKVI overall 4.5 and no less than 4.0 in any band.

IFP 2 terms: IELTS UKVI overall 5.0 and no less than 4.5 in any band.

International Year 1: Overall 5.5 and no less than 5.5 in any band.

Pre-Master: Overall 5.5 and no less than 5.5 in any band.

How do I apply for a UK student visa?

The process of the UK student visa is as follows: you must apply for your UK student visa application online through the official website of the British Government (Gov.UK) (unless you are applying from North Korea, in which case you can use a hardcopy form).

It's worth mentioning that you can apply up to three months before your intended date of travel to the UK, and your application date is the date when your application fee is paid.

Conditions to receive Tier 4 Visa:

·        Hold an unconditional offer to enroll in a course from a licensed/legitimate student route sponsor.

·        Have financial evidence that you can fund yourself and pay for your course fees.

·        Understand, speak, read and write English.

English language requirements

When applying for a UK student visa, you must present proof of your command of the English language. This usually entails passing a reliable English language test, such as the IELTS test.

Your skills in writing, reading, speaking and listening in English are evaluated by UKVI and vary by academic level. What's more, your chosen educational institution's (sponsor's) English language requirements may differ.

As part of the visa application process, a UKVI officer may interview you. If you can't have a simple conversation without the help of an interpreter, you may not be allowed to enter the UK, no matter how good your English results are. 

Biometric residence permit

A biometric residence permit from UKVI is required as part of the application process. You'll need to schedule an appointment at UKVI in order to have your fingerprints and a digital photo of your face taken.

UK Student Visa Fees

The cost of the UK student visa is £363 if you apply from outside the UK, and it will cost £490 to renew or change your visa, if you want to extend your stay in the UK.

How do I track a UK student visa application?

After attending your appointment at a visa application center or using the ID Check app, you should receive a decision on your visa within three weeks. You can also follow the status of your UK student visa application, whether you applied online or on paper.

Post Study Work Permit in UK

WORK IN THE UK AFTER GRADUATION

From this fall, foreign students studying at UK universities will be able to remain employed for two years after graduation, by applying for the recently announced Graduate Immigration Route. The New Immigration Route will be available for international students coming to UK who have completed the full time course from a higher education provider and has a law-abiding record and valid Tier 4 visa at the time of application.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA FOR A UK POST-STUDY WORK VISA

Successful applicants on this route will be able to remain employed or seek employment, in the UK for two years. Also, graduates who have acquired skilled jobs, and who are eligible for skilled work visas, will be able to exchange visas to continue their careers in the UK. This new visa category, which was announced in September 2019, is open to applicants from the commencing of summer of 2021, meaning that any international student starting a degree in the country in the fall, and having a valid Tier 4 visa when the new category opens, will be able to apply.

Despite the frustration over the lack of information about the new visa, the UK government recently published a revised guide that ensures that those studying for a degree / integrated degree due to the changes forced by universities by Covid-19 will be able to apply for a Graduate course as long as they are in the UK by 6th April 2021.

AFTER THE POST-STUDY WORK VISA ENDS

A postgraduate work visa allows UK degree graduates to apply for any type of employment, and they can usually be allowed to stay for up to two years upon graduation. That means: Within two years of graduating, you will be able to work at whatever job you are given. But if that period expires and the PSW visa expires as well, any student wishing to stay longer in the UK will have to apply for the work visa. For this, student job must comply with the requirements of the Tier 2 visa, a 'general work visa'. That usually means you have to pay at least £ 30,000 a year; but in some professions, this level may be higher or lower. Once you find a suitable job, you will be eligible to transfer to a skilled work visa.

EXTENSION OF POST STUDY WORK VISA

It will not be possible to extend the Post Study Work visa for more than 2 years. Eligible candidates can apply for an Employee Visa, Tier 2 (General) visa, or a Global Talent visa. Start-Up visas and Innovator visas will also remain available and we expect that switching to those routes will be allowed. This is an important agreement, given that Covid-19 could prevent some students from going to the UK for a limited time, although many UK universities have now confirmed that the opportunity will begin gradually or gradually in the regular schedule this fall. A further 97 percent of UK universities have confirmed that they plan to provide in-house teaching where possible and safe, backed by technology where needed to keep staff and students safe.
